Coalburg Road Creek Clean Up June 2010
On a very hot June 12, 2010 morning, a crew from the Jefferson County Five Mile Creek Waste Water Treatment Plant helped volunteers remove trash and weeds from under the Coalburg Road Bridge. This is a popular place to launch a canoe into Five Mile Creek. Its about a 4-hour ride to the Brookside Canoe Company take out from this spot.
Unfortunately, it is also a popular place for household trash, tires and other messes. Thanks to the volunteers who helped fill a huge dump truck (twice!!) and keep the trash from washing into the creek. Thanks to – Jefferson County Environmental Services, Fultondale Fire Department, Birmingham-Southern College and Hands-on-Birmingham.
